What’s new at the Valemount Museum
Although the Valemount Museum’s summer season ended in September and the museum’s doors are closed until May 2020, there’s still plenty of things happening behind the scenes:
Historical Day Trip
The Valemount Museum just hosted its annual Historical Day Trip on October 6th. Twenty lucky participants got the chance to travel by bus to Jasper and then boarded VIA Rail for a train trip to McBride. During the trip local historian Art Carson shared stories on important areas of the Robson Valley that the train was passing through.
When this event was first announced on Facebook the interest was huge, so the Valemount Museum Board will work to plan two of these historical train trips each year. Watch for details on a spring 2020 date!
New Indigenous Exhibit
The Valemount Museum’s Administrator Anastasia McPartlin is working with Simpcw First Nation to create and install the first Indigenous exhibit in the Valemount Museum. This exciting project will be ready for unveiling when the museum opens again in May 2020. Watch for more updates on the progress of this important project!
Christmas Craft Fair
Christmas is coming and the Valemount Museum will be at the Valemount Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday November 23rd. There will be great gift ideas for books from local authors on Valemount and the region.
